After the i30 N and the Veloster N, the 2022 Hyundai Kona N is getting ready for its highly anticipated release.
The Hyundai Kona N should be unveiled in 2021 and is expected to go on sale in 2022, joining the VW T-Roc R in the compact SUV market.
As the fourth N model, following on the heels of the i30, Tucson and Veloster, the 2022 Hyundai Kona N will feature a transmission similar to that of its predecessors. The South Korean manufacturer will once again be using its 2.0 L 4-cylinder turbo engine, which should produce somewhere around 260 horsepower. However, the actual figure could range from 246 to 275.
The front end of the new Hyundai Kona appears to have larger air vents to help cool the more powerful engine, while the rear end exhibits the kind of large exhaust pipes that are worthy of a race car.
The whole vehicle appears to sit lower on its elegant wheels and the brakes look like they’re ready for the racetrack.
It could almost be said that the Hyundai Kona, with this new lowered position, resembles a sedan more than an SUV.
We haven’t even talked about the electric version yet, but Hyundai is promising a range of up to 469 kilometers on a single charge.
This figure refers to the long-range model of the Kona Electric, which will come with a 64 kWh lithium-ion battery and a 201 hp electric motor. The base model of the Kona Electric will come with a 39.2 kWh battery for a promised range of 299 kilometers. While it may only deliver 133 horsepower, that’s still no small feat for a car of this caliber.
